Summary
Inventory settings let you choose the costing method for stock and for goods sold: Weighted average (WAC) or First-in first-out (FIFO).
Where to find it
Admin dashboard → Inventory setup → Inventory settings.
Steps
Go to Inventory setup → Inventory settings.
Choose one of the two costing methods.
Click Save.
Comparing the two methods
Weighted average (WAC) – default: cost = the weighted average of all received batches. Example: receive 10 kg of sugar at 20,000/kg and 10 kg at 24,000/kg – the cost is 22,000/kg. Suits most F&B businesses: simple and stable costs.
First-in first-out (FIFO): stock is issued by batch, with the earliest batch costed first. In the example above, the first 10 kg issued cost 20,000/kg and the next 10 kg cost 24,000/kg. Suits businesses tracking batches and expiry dates.
Notes
Choose the method at the start, before creating purchase orders, and avoid changing it mid-period so cost reports stay consistent.
Costs are only calculated for ingredients with Cost tracking (COGS) turned on.

FAQ
Q: Should I choose WAC or FIFO?
A: Most F&B businesses should use WAC (the default). Choose FIFO if you need to track cost by batch.
